About BioTherm Energy

BioTherm Energy (Pty) Ltd (BioTherm Energy) is an investment company based in Johannesburg which develops electricity generation, renewable energy, energy efficiency, Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and other energy-related projects primarily in Southern Africa.

BioTherm Energy was founded in 2004 by its five directors and became a subsidiary of London listed WSP Group plc (www.wspgroup.com) in October 2006.

BioTherm Energy invests equity in and develops projects on a turnkey basis and BioTherm Energy undertakes amongst others responsibility for:

• initialising or conceptualising the project opportunity
• evaluating the relevant project data and project selection
• developing a comprehensive financial model
• regulatory compliance including obtaining all the necessary permits, licences and approvals
• engineering, design and procurement of project assets
• long term operation and maintenance of project assets
• all relevant contract negotiations including carbon purchase agreements, finance documents, equipment warranties and performance obligations
• where relevant, initial and ongoing compliance with all UNFCCC project requirements
• long term ownership of project assets
• managing lifecycle costs

BioTherm Energy also co-develops projects with other investors where required.
