We have a pipeline of projects in waste gas, waste heat, biogas and energy efficiency in South Africa.
Operating Projects
We were proud to commission South Africa’s first CDM Funded Independent Power Producer Project in September 2007. BioTherm built, owns and operates this plant located at the PetroSA gas-to-liquids facility.
Under Development
Our existing mandated pipeline comprises projects in excess of 300MW in the conventional energy sector in South Africa, and 200MW of renewable energy projects.
Under Construction
BioTherm commenced construction of its anaerobic digester at Kanhym, the largest pig farm in South Africa with 42 000 animals on average during any part of the year. The project will capture and destroy methane gas equivalent to 20,000 tonnes of CO2 per annum and is scheduled for commissioning in September 2010. The project is registered with the UNFCCC as a Clean Development Mechanism project.
